Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (PT)
Conceived by BOLD founder Karen
Brody, a BOLD Red Tent is an opportunity for communities to find out
about how local mothers are giving birth by hearing directly from
mothers. It is also a healing “tent,” where mothers who have had a
challenging birth can heal through the telling of their stories.
Our
Seattle Midwifery School BOLD Red Tent will be a safe, intimate space
(a “tent”) where mothers can gather for a few hours to share their
birth stories. Many BOLD Red Tents are videotaped with each mother’s
permission. This BOLD video tape is then used to lobby three local
leaders who can help improve maternity care conditions in our local
area. Space is limited to 12 women for a three-hour Red Tent, as our
experience is that 15 minutes is an average length for a woman's story,
and we want to give each woman adequate time.

IMPORTANT
NOTE: Please plan to arrive on time. Once greetings and introductions
have taken place, the space will be closed. It is important that once
women have begun to share their stories, there is no disruption. Thank
you for observing this request.
Nursing babes in arms are welcome.
